The first time you rent a kayak, you need to consider the following points:

Water temperature

In Norway, the water is cold all year round in terms of being able to stay in it for a long time. A half-hour swim in 18-degree water is demanding pretty much all year round. Out of season, it is important to think about what kind of clothing you should wear.

Wind

In addition to the fact that wind has a cooling effect, it also makes paddling more demanding. All rental kayaks are stable and can withstand a lot of wind. However, you must be aware that paddling becomes more demanding at winds above 5m/s. This is especially important in offshore winds.

At wind speeds above 10m/s, kayaks should not be rented out. Exceptions can be made if the rental company has at least an Activity Leader course from NPF.

HAVE A GOOD TRIP!
